May is here and it is spectacular!
There is lots of talk about a ‘pink moon’ which led me to a homeschool topic of researching does the moon actually turn pink? and why is it referred to as such?
“Northern Native Americans call April’s full moon the pink moon after a species of early blooming wildflower. In other cultures, this moon is called the sprouting grass moon, the egg moon, and the fish moon.”
every month has it’s own name for the full moon occurring during that month and they are all “names based on the behavior of the plants, animals, or weather during that month.”
all the information quoted above was taken from National Geographic
go check out all the other months 🙂
“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth”
I am finally enjoying the weather… groundhog day is tomorrow … we are getting snow tonight and it will be a white winter wonderland in the morning … most importantly the temperature is finally comfortable and not POLAR cold 😉
